Description |
Clinical workshop designed to educate therapists on bilingual development and present clinical evidence showing the importance of evaluating a child in both the primary and secondary language. As a young child develops two languages, s/he may initially demonstrate knowledge for a word or concept in one language and not the other. Assessing a child in only one language (even if it's the primary language), may result in overestimating or underestimating a delay. This workshop will also discuss key components (use of interpreter, specific questions, etc) when conducting a bilingual assessment in order to provide optimal results and recommendations.
