Therapists & Parents: Partners in Effective Therapy

Description

In this course, TalkTools therapist Whitney Pimentel and Dr. Julia Kinder partner up to show therapists effective ways to assist families in how to implement therapy into their daily lives. Dr. Kinder is a parent of a child with Down syndrome, as well as a board-certified family practice physician and an early childhood education advocate. Whitney is an SLP that has been working with children and families of children with Development Disabilities for over 15 years. Together, Whitney and Dr. Kinder will teach the importance of therapy, discuss the therapist’s roles in the family dynamic, and give therapists the tools needed to help parents who feel overwhelmed apply these techniques into their daily lives. Therapy is a group effort and in order to be successful, parents need to feel empowered and trained in a variety of therapy techniques.
