Course Description
This two day course is designed to provide physical and occupational therapists with information and instruction on Kinesio Taping methods. Kinesio Taping is a method of treatment for musculoskeletal and myofascial disorders and edema control. This method can be used during physical activity and in conjunction with many therapies. Attendees will gain insight into theory and taping techniques for a variety of concerns, including joint instability, muscular weakness, abnormal alignment, pain and inflammation.
The first day offers information on basic techniques and application of Kinesio Tape for the neck, trunk, upper and lower extremity. The second day will focus on more specific taping methods and advanced concepts in Kinesio Taping.
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the concepts of Kinesio Taping.
- Discuss the five effects of Kinesio Tape.
- Apply the learned skills of Kinesio Taping techniques in the lab sessions.
- Demonstrate an upper and lower extremity taping method.
- Identify the benefits of Kinesio Taping for various diagnoses.
- Identify precautions and contraindications of Kinesio Taping.
- Log into the Kinesio Tape website
