Treatment of the Hypotonic Child

Description

This two day course is designed for physical, occupational and speech therapists working with children who have neurological or developmental disorders where hypotonia is a significant component such as Down Syndrome, DCD, genetic disorders, and some forms of Cerebral Palsy. The motor and sensory impairments associated with hypotonia will be defined and described along with the effect hypotonia has on function and participation. Labs will cover facilitation of improved postural control combined with strategies and use of movable surfaces to enhance postural stability, strength and motor learning related to specific functional outcomes. Adjuncts and home program suggestions will also be covered.
