Description |
Many children and adolescents struggle with intermittent or chronic behavioral issues, where parents and professionals rely on time, behavioral rewards, or pharmacological/medication interventions to resolve the issue. Multi-component interventions and strategies have proven to be effective in reducing behavioral problems and increasing positive behaviors. However, translating the evidence into practice is important in resolving these issues before they develop into a chronic and more complicated issue.
This interactive solution-based workshop will teach participants to apply the research on typical and atypical developmental, childhood and behavioral disorders for effective solutions to behavior challenges. Identifying when certain behaviors are developmentally appropriate and when they warrant application of effective behavioral strategies is critical to long term success. Case discussions and published research articles will address a wide variety of presenting concerns. Practical and ready-to-use handouts and behavioral strategies will be provided to use immediately upon completing the workshop.
