Water-Based Intervention for the Pediatric Client

Description

This 16 hour seminar on water-based interventions is designed to rapidly introduce pediatric therapists to motor, sensory and play-based interventions in water. Participants will create a series of aquatic therapeutic movements, tasks, or exercises designed to alleviate the most common problems associated with the pediatric population and then adapte these ideas to novel situations. Participants will briefly examine research which supports aquatic therapy for the child and explore contraindications, including prevailing precaution myths.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
The course is designed primarily for professionals who have less than 2 years of full-time experience working with children and adolescents in water. Those likely to benefit most are: PTAs, PTAs, OTs, OTAs and RTs who are at the basic or intermediate level of skill acquisition and those who are at a higher level of skill, but who are looking for an introduction to the fundamental concepts of aquatic treatments for the pediatric population.
