Understanding Challenging Behavior in Infants and Toddlers

Description

Challenging behavior can be a form of communication for young children. It is important to understand the basis of challenging behavior as well as the function this behavior represents. Discussion of why behavior is occuring and how to address this behavior will be covered. This will include typical development and red flags in communcation and social-emotional areas. The Functional Behavioral Assessment and ABC Analysis will be introduced with strategies including antecedents, setting events, consequences, replacement behaviors and Pyramid Model. Resources will be provided for home visits and classroom settings for infants and toddlers.
