This presentation reviews characteristics of autism and the most up to date treatment strategies for people on the autism spectrum. Examples are used across the lifespan to help demonstrate how to help individuals long term and how to tailor programs based on individual needs and differences. Successful treatment strategies are reviewed to teach social and communication skills and work on behavior problems through several case examples. History, causes, co-existing conditions and prevalence statistics of autism are also discussed along with several resources.
