Social Emotional Development:Helping the Family Build Routines That Work

Description

Parents of children enrolled in Birth to Three services need to be actively involved in planning ways for their children to develop social and emotional skills in every-day settings. Developing good social skills and emotional self-regulation are keys to successful outcomes for the child leading to inclusion in family and community activities. We will learn the Pyramid Model for social and emotional learning developed at Vanderbilt University’s Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning. This is an evidence based approach to involving parents to make every day activities opportunities for learning skills. The emphasis will be on how this effort occurs within relationships: the parent with the child and the EI professionals with both. These relationships form the context needed for success.
