Description |
ChicagoCAC will honor Child Abuse Prevention Month with a series of several trainings. This session will educate parents and community members about primary prevention practices for child sexual abuse. ChicagoCAC believes that prevention strategy should be focused on adults' responsibility to protect children from abuse. Prevention education and training should contain core components prescribed by prevention experts, but be flexible enough to be relevant for diverse cultural communities. Learn about how to make prevention practices routine in your family and organization, as well as about the primary prevention projects ChicagoCAC is embarking on. This training will cover:
-the importance of teaching proper names for body parts to children and healthy sexual development
-the importance of teaching boundaries, consent and compassion
-the information we know about perpetrators and grooming behaviors, and how that informs prevention
-how and why to speak up during concerning situations
-how to develop a family safety plan and organizational safety plan
-Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center’s role
-a discussion of protective factors that help to build strong and health families
