Recognizing and Helping Parents Resolve Grief related to Hearing Loss and other Disabilities

Description

This brief workshop is intended for Service Coordinators and Pediatric Therapists providing services to children through Early Intervention. The goal s are:
1) to help professionals identify parental behaviors and attitudes that may result from grief over their child's disability.
2) to understand the dynamic nature of grief processes.
3) to understand family systems and culture and how these impact a parent's perception of and ability to cope with the demands associated with their child's disability.
4) to review the EI assessment and service delivery process, and identify indicators of parental positive and negative coping strategies..
5) to teach professionals to address grief through the parent-therapist relationship.
