Cultural Competency for Professionals Working with CLD Children: Part One

Description

Cultural competence and responsiveness is important for all educators. In this seminar, we will review the different aspects of what constitutes it and how educators may achieve it. Examples and strategies to increase cultural competence amongst therapists and other educators including SLPS are discussed. The relevance to early intervention is that cultural deference and positivity is critical to use when working with families and their young children in the Early intervention context. Much of this research comes from Cultural Responsiveness pedagogy and is research based pertaining to work with 0-3 year population.
