5-2-1-0: A Framework for Supporting and Encouraging a Healthy Active Lifestyle

Description

The 5-2-1-0 Program is a community-wide strategy for improving child health through healthy lifestyle promotion. The goal is to change early childhood health behaviors by creating supportive environments where children live, learn and play. Specifically, the aim is to help more children practice healthy behaviors so that fewer children are an unhealthy weight and related health problems. Changing behaviors in infants and toddlers such as nutrition, sleep, screen-time, etc. is an investment in lifelong health. Children and Families that develop these behaviors at a very early age for the child are more likely to sustain these habits in the future. The initiative is inclusive of children and families of all cultural background, disability status and health status.
