Assessing your Client’s AAC Needs and Matching Skills to Language

Description

AAC systems support families in promoting optimal language development and facilitate active participation for the child in family and community activities. Providers will be educated in the developmental basis for AAC systems and strategies, the types of AAC available, formally assessing the AAC needs of the child, and the collaborative EI process for providing these systems to children and families.. This will allow providers to assess and develop comprehensive intervention plans that facilitate language and potentially speech development, age appropriate exploration and autonomy, for greater EI and family outcomes.
