4th Annual Pediatric Therapies Conference: Increasing Collaboration within Pediatric Disciplines : Using the Neurorelational Framework (NRF)

Description

The neurorelational framework (NRF) is a construct based on the science of brain development. It is a ground breaking neuroscientific understanding of infant and child development. The NRF is based on three relevant features of brain development and growth influenced by early lived experiences, operationalizing these into three practical steps for assessment and intervention and supporting healthy development. The NRF assists all caregivers and providers from across disciplines to support healthy early development. The application of the NRF will be showcased through case-based video clips. Please visit website for more details http://the-nrf.com/framework.html

Objectives:
1. The participants will be able to identify three stress responses and four toxic stress patterns inherent to the infant , child and adult relationships

2.The participants will be able to identify seven socio-emotional milestones for assessing the quality of engagement between the child and the parent(s)

3.The participants will be able to discriminate between "bottom up" behaviors and interventions and "top down" behaviors and intervention for each individual – whether infant, child, or adult

Dr. Connie Lillas and Janiece Turnbull book offer a unifying, interdisciplinary framework based on current neuroscience research into how infants and children develop in the context of relationships and their surroundings. "Infant/Child Mental Health, Early Intervention, & Relationship-Based Therapies: A Neurorelational Framework for Interdisciplinary Practice" is a groundbreaking neuroscientific understanding of infant and child development, including a CD-ROM with supplementary worksheets, figures and tables.
