Description |
This two-day course emphasizes a postural evaluation and using Fryette’s Laws of Spinal motion as a basis for evaluation and treatment of the pelvis, sacrum and lumbar spine in both pediatric and adult patients. Muscle Energy Technique is composed of a coordinated series of muscle contractions in precisely controlled directions, at very low levels of intensity. Positional and isometric contraction techniques, when applied by the skilled therapist, result in: the mobilization of regional and localized joint hypomobility and release of protective muscle spasm, which is present in neuromuscular dysfunction. These corrections of biomechanical dysfunction obtain an increase in joint mobility and ranges of motion, restoration of articular balance, and improvement in postural alignment. Muscle Energy correctional techniques are demonstrated to be gentle, efficient, and effective in correcting spinal malalignment, pain and dysfunction in all patient populations. They can be used with non-verbal as well as verbal patients, and can be used with very young children, as they do not need to be able to follow instructions in order to be treated.
This two-day class has 50% lecture, 50% lab . A 60-page pictured course manual is used by the students as a “working document” for evaluation and treatment.
