Behavior, Sensory and Positive Behavioral Interventions

Description

Objectives of this course are:

A. Reframe definitions of “behavior” and “sensory”

B. Examine potential causes of behavior problems in children with autism spectrum disorders

C. Look at ways to identify functions of behaviors

D. Develop strategies and positive behavioral supports that families can implement to replace negative behaviors with more functional interactions.
The course will use videotapes and case examples of different behaviors to exemplify different functions of behaviors.
Group activities to develop strategies to address negative behaviors.
