This workshop will focus primarily on the first early intervention principle -- "The primary goal of EI is to support families in promoting their child’s optimal development and to facilitate the child’s participation in family and community activities." This workshop will support providers’ understanding and perception of the natural environment as a process, not just a place -- utilizing the family, community, activities, routines, materials etc. to promote parent-child relationships and child development. This will be the starting point for helping providers become more comfortable with supporting already existing, authentic learning opportunities within each child and family's natural environment without the use of a toy bag brought in by the provider.
