Home Visitors: Navigating Field Based Work

Description

Home visiting professionals have opportunities which most professionals do not have to take a glimpse into the lives of children and families. The home visitor’s role is unique, and the relationships which are built with families are the most powerful tool to support young children and make a difference in their lives.

Within this workshop, we apply home visiting principles to the work of Early Intervention Service Coordinators.

Topics to be addressed include:
Assessing the context and circumstances around you
Basic assessment of behaviors, emotions, and relationships
Differentiating differences from danger
When danger seems imminent
When to call DCFS
When to call the local authorities
Should this meeting be rescheduled?
Implementing your plan for personal safety
