Child Abuse & the Brain: The Developmental Impact of Trauma in Childhood

Description

Advances in neuroscience have led to greater understanding of the impact of child abuse on the brain. Child abuse produces severe stress in the brain and the body's physiological response impacts the brain. This workshop will define child abuse; discuss why abuse happens; talk about how the brain responds and discuss how these scientific advances have inspired new approaches for the treatment of child abuse victims.
