Safety Care Training: Managing Behaviors

Description

Children with developmental issues can present with extremely challenging and aggressive behaviors. It is important for therapists who work with such children to know how to manage their behaviors in ways that are supportive and that keep both the children and the adults working with them safe. Saftey Care is an empirically validated system for addressing these situations. It begins with techniques that address antecedents to prevent such behaviors from occurring; non-physical method of addressing behaviors; guidelines for when physical management is necessary; and methods of physical mangagement. It also includes training on how to safely respond to bites, hair pulling, and other forms of aggression.

Best practices are that associates receive booster training on an annual basis. This training is an annual booster session for associates who have previoulsy been received Safety Care training.
