Description |
This workshop will consist of discussion centered around coping strategies that are utilized by people to manage stress. Families receiving early intervention may be experiencing stressors related to their child's development, management of a complex health system, issues within the family system, and a myriad of other possibilities that may require a shift into the use of various coping strategies. By understanding the role that defense mechanisms play in creating a workable stress management system, the provider may gain better insight into how individuals cope. This will in turn give providers a more sophisticated "toolbox" in understanding how to work with families in way which supports them, instead of challenges them further.
