Description |
Ms. Bruski will summarize the concepts and strategies in her book, The Insightful Teacher:Reflective Strategies to Shape Your Early Childhood Classroom. Focusing too much on controlling children's behavior often leads to reliance on consequences and punishment. When teachers see behaviors as interactional and reflect on their role with children, more supportive and effective approaches are possible. Having developmentally appropriate expectations, validating feelings and problem solving creates compassionate classrooms in which young children thrive.
