Description |
The increasing number of children being diagnosed with sensory disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorders is becoming matched by effective and innovative treatment from highly specialized professionals. Children often require day to day development and routines when treating these disorders, which opens up opportunities for effective care and improvement. Focusing on even technical aspects, such as brain activity and chemistry, can produce distinguished results separate from therapy, but even more effective in the clinical approach. This is just an example of the growing field of new methods of treatment for sensory disorders.
Participants in this course will learn the various types and common causes of behavioral problems in young children with autism and associated conditions. Understanding the functions of behavior and developing effective intervention strategies will be a focus of this course. Through videos and guided practice, participants will analyze various behaviors common in the population of children with autism spectrum disorders, develop intervention plans and select strategies to effectively address these behaviors. In addition, the creation of mechanisms to support children that are predominately proactive instead of reactive will be stressed.
