PIAT Conference-Toxic Stress in the Early Childhood Years

Description

In supporting families, early intervention providers must recognize family diversity and differences. Many families in the early intervention system may look and sound different than providers’ own families. This training will highlight the specific needs, challenges, and strengths that families experiencing toxic stress face. These families are often involved in complex situations, which require skilled yet flexible attention. In order to create a collaborative relationship between high stress families and providers, this session will provide guidance on how to develop, implement, monitor, and modify therapy. This workshop will highlight strategies that early intervention and early childhood providers can use to work more effectively with families experiencing toxic stress.
