8th Annual Empowering Professionals Conference: “Practical Insights into Effective Intervention

Pre-registration is required for this one-day conference featuring a Keynote Presentation by
Dr. Michael Nelson, Ph.D. Dr. Nelson is the Director of the Section of Pediatric Psychology
at Rush Children’s Hospital in Chicago and an Associate Professor of Psychology and
Pediatrics at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. He has devoted his career
to understanding the origins of lifelong disability and evaluating the effectiveness of
intervention strategies to support children’s future success.

During his keynote presentation entitled, Lifelong Benefits of Early Intervention: Making Every Minute Count, Dr. Nelson will explore the essential characteristics of neurodevelopmental stages of development, will describe developmental deviations at each stage, and will offer intervention strategies, built upon the strengths that exist within each child. Throughout, the relative contributions of parents and early interventionists to neurodevelopment will be discussed.
