Taking the Bite Out of Challenging Behaviors

Description

In order to deal successfully with abbreviated attention spans, high activity levels, tantrums, and other challenging behaviors, early childhood professionals need to understand the reason for the child’s behavior. Functional assessment helps caregivers and therapists explore the cause for such behaviors and develop appropriate interventions. The assessment also helps provide parents with a rational basis for the intervention. This workshop explores functional assessment and offers a step-by-step guide for professionals to use when discussing behaviors and intervention with parents.
