Scripted Story Use with Infants and Toddlers

Description

The use of social stores has been useful in supporting young children with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings. Join us in taking a look at some resources to support the use of scripted stories with children under the age of 3. Stories using real photographs can assist children in learning the sequence of activities and to prepare for an upcoming event that may be unfamiliar or challenging for a child. Helping a child “to know what’s coming” can alleviate stress for a child which will increase the potential for a successful experience for all. Participants will make a sample scripted story to be used as a talking tool with families during the session.
