Mental Health First Aid

Description

This 2-day training describes the history of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) in addition to:
*Identify the role of First Responders.
*Discuss disease burden related to mental health problems in the US.
*Describe the transformation of mental health care in the US.
*Identify the MHFA action plan.
*Discuss warning signs of major depression and suicidal behavior.
*Discuss the risk factors and warning signs of non-suicidal self-injury.
*Discuss the warning signs of anxiety disorders.
*Identify psychiatric traumatic events and how to apply MHFA for emotional trauma.
*Describe the warning signs of substance dependence and the MHFA action plan for individual addicted to substances.
*Identify 2 types of eating disorders and the root causes of the disorders.
*Discuss the symptoms of a physical health crisis with an individual who has an eating disorder.

*Must attend both days in order to receive EI credit.*
