Introduction to Infant Mental Health

Description

A key concept underlying Infant Mental Health practice is the belief that a nurturing parent -child (or primary-caregiver-child) relationship is essential for the child's healthy development. A second essential concept is Parallel Process -- "Do unto others and you would have others do unto others" -- Jeree Pawl. In other words, nurturing relationships beget nurturing relationships--not only between parents and children, but also between program staff and families, between staff and their peers and supervisors, and between supervisors and program managers. A third key concept is the importance of identifying and building on what is working for effective practice.

These two interactive day-long workshops model the parallel process through viewing and reflecting on videos of parents, children, program staff, and supervisors, combined with various large and small group activities.

Day 1 will be held on 9/27/13 and Day 2 will be held on 11/1/13. You MUST ATTEND BOTH DAYS in order to get the EI credit assigned to this training event.
