Practical Ideas for Relationship Based Intervention-Moving from Therapy Driven Model to Parent Driven Model of Service Delivery

Description

This workshop will be an interactive time for providers to learn new skills in relationship based and family centered intervention. It will include exploration and discussion of how to assess the different learning styles of families and their children, how to apply supportive strategies in order to assist families in achieving positive outcomes for their children and the basic philosophy behind this treatment approach. We will present providers with practical ideas for making an effective transition from a child centered, therapist directed treatment approach to one that is family centered and relationship based. Attendees will be provided with video models of these treatment approaches being implemented to guide discussion about best practices.

Following completion of this workshop participants will be able to do the following:

1. Define relationship based/family centered intervention

2. Discuss how a relationship based approach supports child development

3. Identify strategies that they can employ in their own practice to support the significant relationships in the lives of their clients.

4.Define and apply the concept of parallel process
