Sensory Modulation

Description

Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is fast becoming recognized as a major contributor to problematic behavior of children and adolescents. It commonly accompanies such conditions as ADHD, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, ODD, bipolar disorder, developmental delays, depression, Tourette’s disorder, speech and language disorders, anxiety disorders, and learning disabilities. The central problem is the brain’s difficulty in organizing sensory inputs it receives from the nervous system. It involves abnormal avoidance of or attraction to touch, taste, smell, movement, sounds, and sights.

This seminar is a pivotal training experience for anyone concerned with altering behaviors of a child or adolescent diagnosed with Sensory Processing issues. It features elaborate diagnostic information and hundreds of specific corrective activities for children and adolescents that have Sensory Processing Disorder. This advanced course offers two Make-it Take-it exercises giving attendees valuable experience in developing a Sensory Diet for specific students. A review of case study data leads into a group problem solving exercise allowing therapists to present real-world situations and receive feedback from sets of fresh eyes and ears.
