Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders in Young Children

Description

Children with autism spectrum disorders, both diagnosed and undiagnosed, are entering child care facilities and early childhood classrooms at an increasing rate. As the prevalence for spectrum disorders is now 1 in every 88 births or 1 in every 54 boys, it is highly likely you know or support an individual on the autism spectrum. This presentation will cover the importance of understanding an ASD diagnosis and the accompanying characteristics. Evidenced based strategies for supporting a child with a spectrum disorder will be reviewed. Participants will leave the session with several approaches they can implement in their home or in their classroom.
